One day the fox came to the lakeside while walking. In the pond there were cats swimming. As soon as the fox saw them, he had a toothache.
He wondered if he could catch just one. He knew the uncles were very curious, so he called out to them:
- Come closer, I'll tell you a nice story!
- "We can hear it from here," said the uncles, "just say it!
- But you are far away, I cannot shout so loud. Let one of you come out, and I will whisper in his ear, and he will tell the others. But come out clever, or the donkey will forget.
The foxes all came ashore, for they all thought they were clever, and the fox that was nearest to him caught him, and the others fell apart.
