Once upon a time, near a small house in a tiny village, lived Kunkori, the little pig with the short tail. Although Kunkori had 7 brothers and sisters, he didn't really play with them. His owners had built them a wonderful hutch and yard with a huge mud bath where he could wallow all day long. He was fine on his own, but he was still very much in need of true friends.
One day Kunkori was running around in the yard of the barn when he heard a strange sound. He heard, "Meow". He looked around but saw nothing. He thought his brothers were teasing him. So he asked them:
- Did you say "Meow"?
- "Don't joke," his brothers replied. We're not whining. It must have been a kitten.
Kunkori was surprised at this sentence, as she had never seen a cat in the house before. He did not know that the previous evening a new resident had arrived in the form of Cirmi the cat. But as she thought, she heard "Meow" again.
He thought he would find out where the sound was coming from. He didn't have to scan the area for long, because he saw a kitten sitting on the fence of the barn. She went up to him and asked:
- Did you meow? Yes, it was me, meow," replied Cirmi. I hope I didn't disturb you!
- Not at all, he just didn't know who was meowing. When did you move here? I've never seen you before, Kunkori asked.
- I came last night. You know, I still feel quite alone because I miss my brothers and sisters and I don't have any friends. I'd like to catch a lot of mice, and I'm very happy about that because I love chasing mice. My owners are very kind because they wait for me with treats, they stroke me a lot. I think I'm going to have a good time here, I'm just on my own.
- I would be very happy if we were friends. You know, I love my brothers and sisters very much, but I don't have any friends except them," said Kunkori.
Cirmi's eyes lit up with joy. She was very happy to have found a very dear friend so soon.
The little pig continued:
- There is a lot of fun here. For example, I love to wallow in the mud. It cools you down and the flies don't bother you as much. They always want to make friends, but I don't like them because they are very annoying. Do you like to swim?
- What? Bathing in the mud? - laughed Cirmi. Don't you know that cats are very clean animals? If I can, I spend most of the day cleaning my fur.
- "Oh, I'm sorry, I've never met a cat before," Kunkori apologised. But I'm sure we'll find things to do together.
And so it was. After that they spent the whole day talking, playing ball and playing catch. Cirmi was a very good friend, because even though she was much faster than Kunkori, sometimes she let him win.
The next day, Kunkori woke up to find his new friend running towards him in terror:
- Help me, Kunkori! Here's a dog! He wasn't here yesterday! Oh, meow, what shall I do?
- What? A dog? How did it get here? You must be seeing things, Cirmi, no dog lives here. Bodri used to live here with us, but he was very old.
It didn't take a moment for them to hear, "Woof, woof, woof". It was then that Kunkori realised that Cirmi had not only dreamed it, but that a dog had actually moved in.
Morsi was a very small and playful puppy. He grew up in a place with lots of cats, so he got used to them. Even though dogs don't like cats, he didn't mind their presence. When he saw Cirmi and Kunkori talking, he was already at the door of the barn:
- Hello! I'm Morsi. I just moved here. Who are you guys? - she asked inquiringly.
- Hi! I am Kunkori and this is Cirmi, my friend. She's been staying with us since yesterday. Don't hurt him, please. We've grown very fond of each other.
- Me? Hurt you? - Morsi wondered. I have had many cat friends where I have lived. You don't have to be afraid, Cirmi. How would you like it if I joined you? Would you mind? I really like to play, but I don't have anyone to play with yet.
Kunkori looked at Cirmi to see if he was bothered. Cirmi replied:
- I would be very happy. I've never had a dog friend. I've always been chased.
And so it was that Kunkori made two new friends in two days. See? All you have to do is open your heart and let in those who deserve it. And Cirmi and Morji were really nice, really good friends, so I'm sure they still play with Kunkori today.
