Once upon a time, on the edge of a village, lived Kajla the puppy. He was so young that he had just learned to walk. But all day long she had been listening to the deep and loud barking of the older dogs.
He couldn't bark yet, and that bothered him a lot. So he decided to ask Bodri, the oldest and most respected dog in the village, to teach him how to bark in a proper, authoritative way.
He didn't have to wait long, because Bodri was walking by. And Kajla saw him and ran up to him and asked:
- Can you teach me to bark?
- Oh, little Kajla! You'll have time for that! Go and play with your brothers and sisters! - said the dog, who had grown to a huge size.
- But I don't want to play, I want to bark like you. 'So that all the cats run away when they hear my voice,' Kajla insisted.
- Okay," Bodri agreed. After all, I have some time. Now, listen! Say "wow, wow"!
- "Wow", Kajla shouted in a shrill, deafening voice.
- You do have a lot to learn, but never mind. You'll get better every day. As you get bigger, your voice gets deeper. Now, say "wow" one more time.
– Vaúúúúúúú – kiabálta már szinte helyesen, de még mindig nagyon éles hangon a kiskutya.
- "It'll be all right, it'll be all right," the old dog muttered. Keep trying like that. I've got to go now, but I'll come and see you every day from now on. I can see you want me very much and you deserve to be taught. You're a good puppy, Kajla.
Bodri turned and left. And Kajla barked all day. As you can imagine, he practised so much that his owners wanted to call the vet, because he must be in pain. They didn't know that Kajla was just practicing.
From then on, Bodri came to see him every day. Just as he promised. And over the months Kajla grew into a beautiful big dog. And her bark was the most beautiful in the village. She had a real deep voice, like a smart dog - just as Bodri had predicted.
In recognition, he was elected pack leader of the other dogs the following year. From then on, Bodri took his place, and Kajla was now in charge of the dogs in the village.
This is thanks to his perseverance, learning a lot from Bodri and practising every day. And he never forgot the other animals, so they could always turn to him if they had a problem. And that's how Kajla, the clumsy little dog, became a big and respected pack leader.
