Dogs and cats can be friends

Once upon a time, in the depths of the Round Forest, there was a little cottage where two beautiful little girls lived: Greta and Linda. They were sisters and loved each other very much.

They had two cats, Sultan and Guilbert. These two cats were very naughty. They always liked to climb up where they weren't allowed and hide where no one could find them. But they also loved mice! So they were also good cats, because they always caught mice.

Once upon a time, Greta also Linda really wanted puppies. Time went by, a year passed before they got two puppies. The reason they had to wait so long was because Linda was still very small and needed to grow up a bit so she wouldn't be afraid of puppies.

But then these two dogs - who came to them - also turned out to be badly behaved. They were named Badger and Puss. Why were they given this name? I'll tell you. Borzi looked like a black sheep with a badger. His beautiful, shiny black hair curled up in a lovely curl. Tappancs also had a shiny black coat, but his paw had a little white spot on it, so it looked like he was wearing shoes. So they were called Borzi and Tappancs.

But, mark my words, when these two dogs moved in, the cats didn't like them. They didn't want those two dogs living there with them at all. They were always trying to figure out how to scratch them with their sharp claws.

But Borzi and Tappancs were not afraid of them either! Every day they chased them so hard that the kittens couldn't resist running. They had to run so fast that their feet couldn't touch the ground.

One day my badger found out they were hiding and now they ambush the cats. So they did. Sultan and Guilbert had just arrived home to eat their lunch. They headed for their hiding place, where the dogs couldn't fit. However, the little naughty dogs who had been lying in wait had chased them so fast that they had just got into their little house.

But then, the cats didn't give themselves easily either! When the two puppies barked loudly and tried to get in, they unsheathed their claws and scratched their noses. The dogs whined loudly and ran away in fright. You might think it's no wonder they didn't have much of a friendship at first!

As time went by, the two dogs started to grow so fast and got so big that they became even scarier for the cats. The cats didn't even like to be at home anymore, so they either hid in the attic or in their own place, which was very safe. They often spent the whole day in the neighbour's yard, where they could bask in the sun.

However, the two kittens were just so happy to be here first, they don't give up their yard easily. Oh, they had their wits about them! They agreed to hide on the roof and if the puppies came by, they would jump on them. And they'd be sure to be very frightened.

And they did, every day. The poor dogs hardly dared to rest on the warm, sunny lawn. Finally, one day, Borzi and Tappancs realised that it might not be worth it in the long run to be in bad terms with these cats. They realised that these two kittens were actually very clever and even looked like them. They always find a good solution to everything, and they also recognised that they are very brave, because they have grown up and are much bigger than the two kittens. So they decided to stop hurting the kittens.

The cats thought it was a trick at first, but as time went on, they realised that the dogs had finally made friends with them. So they never bothered each other again.

In the end they became such great friends that they ate from the same bowl and slept together. And in winter, when the snow fell, they would warm each other up together. So the dog and cat fight became a true friendship.
