There was a time, children, when there was a great friendship between cats and dogs. But that was indeed a long time ago, before the creation of the world. When God created the world, the cat ate the plum and the dog ate the mushroom. But later the cat got very bored with the plum.
He goes to the dog and says:
- I'm bored of plums, I'm sure you're bored of mushrooms too, let's swap!
- 'I don't mind,' said the dog, 'because, all in all, I'm sick of mushrooms too, all right, let's swap. But I tell you in advance, from now on, eat plums in such a way that if I catch you, I'll kill you.
Well, the cat hasn't eaten any plums since then, and he won't eat any today. Neither does the dog eat mushrooms. They would never have fallen out over that, but once the dog sold his house, got a letter about it, and didn't know where to put it.
He ran to this animal, to that animal, he asked for this, he asked for that, he asked for his writing to be taken away, so that it wouldn't be lost somehow. But of all the animals there was not one that would accept the writing.
Then the dog goes to the cat:
- My cat, take this writing, and keep it till I have a house.
- "With a good heart," said the cat, "of course I would!
He took the writing and stuck it in the master beam. Time passes, the dog needs the paper, he runs to the cat:
- Give me your writing, cat man, I've got a house now.
The cat runs up to the master beam, takes the writing from there, runs down, gives it to the dog, the dog looks at it from all sides, and my lord, not a word, not even that much, could he read, even though he had been to schools, even in a foreign country.
But to no avail, the mouse chewed up the paper. The dog gets angry, licks the cat on both sides, and threatens him:
- Well, stop it, cat, you didn't take care of my writing, as long as I'm alive I'll always chase you, I'll leave you no peace!
But the cat also runs to the mouse, nips him on the neck, licks him on both sides, and threatens him:
- Well, stop it, mouse, you've chewed up the writing, but you'll get no more peace of mind from me! Where I see you, I'll take you, and eat you - and I'll eat the mouse.
Since then, the dog chases the cat and the cat chases the mouse.
